VACCINATIONS - * IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ! *
ALL DOGS AND CATS COMING INTO OUR KENNELS AND CATTERY MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE THEIR STAY
It is compulsory that all cats must be fully vaccinated yearly against:
- FELINE PARVOVIRUS (Feline Infectious Enteritis)
- FELINE PANLEUKOPENIA (Feline Respiratory Viruses)
- FELINE HERPESVIRUS
- FELINE CALICIVIRUS
Whilst not required, It is preferred and recommended that cats get vaccinated annually against:
- FELV (Feline Leukaemia)
Vaccination Cards
Your pet needs to be up to date with their vaccination booster jabs required annually, and if due please ensure they are administered at least 2 weeks before staying and do not expire during a stay.
Vaccination Cards must be produced at each visit, or an email forwarded from your vet confirming vaccination details and administered dates. Regrettably, if we are unable to confirm your pet is fully vaccinated, we must refuse entry for boarding, and the full booking charge will apply.
It’s very important to keep up to date with your pet's vaccination needs for a multitude of reasons, and especially when looking for care for your pet in a boarding facility, this should be a requirement to ensure the health and well-being of all residents.
Flea and Worming Treatment
We also require all pets to be fully up to date with all necessary preventative worming and flea treatments. If your pet is showing any signs of parasites, we unfortunately won't be able to look after them during your holiday.
Can you brush my cat?
We are more than happy to brush your cat to ensure their coat does not get matted. However, we do ask that you bring their own brush from home, so we use one that they are familiar with and love already.
Can I bring my cat's scratching post?
Please feel free to bring your cat tree / scratching post along, and any other familiar comforts from home that they would enjoy during their stay.
Does my cat have outdoor access?
Our cattery area is completely secure so the downstairs of the chalet is effectively outdoor. It is exposed to fresh air, sunlight and nature stimulating even the most outdoorsy cat senses.
How do you keep my cat comfy in the hot and cold?
Each chalet has an individually controllable thermostatic heat lamp combined with ample blankets for comfort and warmth.
To keep your cat cool, our cattery is lovely and shaded under plenty of trees and shrubbery which keeps it cool and breezy throughout.
Will my cat be allowed to socialise with the other residents?
All cats from separate households have their own chalets, and each enjoys their own little piece of paradise. We do not mix any cats from different households together.
Can I come and have a look around?
We welcome all viewings and encourage you to visit before the day of your stay to come and see us to discuss your pet’s individual needs in more detail to help ensure our facilities and team will be able to provide for their needs fully.
Feel free to pop by any day between 11am - 12:30pm. No appointment is necessary - just show up!
What time can I drop off and collect my pet?
You can drop off and collect your pet anytime between 10am - 1pm or 2pm - 4pm.
If you arrive to drop-off or collect your pet between 9am - 10am, 1pm - 2pm or 4pm - 5pm then a £10 surcharge will be added to your bill.
How often will my pet be fed?
We feed your pet as per your instructions, following the same routine that you do at home, whether that’s one, two or three feeds throughout the day.
We recommend you bring your pets usual food to avoid a sudden change in their diet, although we are very happy to provide food for a small additional charge if preferred. We also strongly recommend you bring a scoop for any dry food to allow us to easily replicate amounts as at home. We also suggest you bring enough food to last a few days beyond your pets scheduled stay.
What should I bring in for my cat on their holiday?
We provide plenty of fun enrichment and cuddles as well as the essentials... Snuggly bedding and blankets, heating, a selection of toys and food* (*with a small charge).
However, there are a few things that we would recommend bringing along for your pet's holiday to help them settle in and feel comfortable in their home away from home!
PROOF OF VACCINATION
When checking your pet into the New Forest Kennels and Cattery, please bring your pet's vaccination card and we will add / update the details to our system.
If you don't have their vaccination card, please email your vets to get their vaccination record and forward it to us at hello@newforestkennelsandcattery.co.uk!
LABELLED BEDDING
If your pet is nervous or its their first stay, then we encourage owners to bring in LABELLED washable bedding for their pets, so they have a familiar scent of home to help them settle into their holiday.
LABELLED TOYS
Feel free to bring some LABELLED familiar toys that your pet loves to play with and you are confident they can be left unsupervised with, but please avoid bringing in any squeaky or loud toys.
For safety reasons, we recommend that any toys or items provided for your pet are as robust and indestructible as possible.
TREATS
Whilst we love to offer our own enrichment, if your pet has allergies or they love specific treats that you give them at home, bring them in and we will happily give them their own.
MEDICATION
To ensure your pet’s welfare, we are happy to administer medication between 8am - 8pm. We must have clear instructions and details of the medical condition.
ALL medication MUST include the veterinary label and packaging.
Please DO NOT mix any medication with food if bagging up food portions.
FOOD
We encourage you to bring your pet's own food along to avoid any sudden changes to their diet.
Please bring enough for the length of their stay, plus as bit extra as well as any scoops you use at home along too!
If you'd prefer we are happy to provide food for your pet, however, an additional charge for each pet will apply.
BRUSHES
If you'd like us to brush your furry friend, we ask that you bring your brush from home, so that we can use the brush they are used to and enjoy!
NO NEED TO BRING
FOOD/WATER BOWLS
We have plenty of bowls, including slow-down bowls and puzzle feeders, that we use for the cats and dogs that stay with us. So unless your pet has a specialist bowl that they require, we ask that you please keep your bowls at home.
Do the dogs disturb the cats?
Outside, we have also installed an acoustic fence between our kennel area and the cattery, helping reduce any possible noise transmission from the kennel areas and created a beautiful tranquil garden area for kitties to watch the birds and butterflies just a few metres away!
I have a specific request - can you help?
We are constantly striving to give your beloved pet a home away from home, treating them like our own and as an individual.
It is our mission to ensure their health and happiness, so if there are specific elements to your pet’s usual care, such as brushing, likes or dislikes, or any other quirk, please just let us know and we will be happy to help.
We will also ask you when checking your pet in with us if there have been any changes since your last visit, or if you’ve not used us before, a little more about your pet to help ensure we give them the best stay possible.
We know what our regular residents like and require to keep them comfy and happy - i.e favourite toys, treats, blankets, pee spots, favourite food, feeding place & pace, temperament, strength, and their body language too!
